The Óbuda Chamber Choir1 was formed by the students of the Kőrösi Csoma Sándor2 Secondary School in the spring of 1986. It has been led ever since by Ákos Erdős. Its supporters are the Óbuda Community Centre and the Óbuda Secondary School. The ensemble currently has 32 active members.
The repertoire of the choir ranges from early Renaissance to contemporary music. We also sing folk song adaptations and rearrangements of popular music pieces. We pay special attention to the music of the 20th century and contemporary Hungarian composers. We endeavour to present rarely performed pieces of value (e.g. works of Janequin, Lajtha, Florent Schmitt, Messiaen, Ligeti). The choir has participated in the performance of various oratorical pieces on numerous occasions (e.g. masses by Haydn, Mozart, Schubert; Haydn: The Creation; Mozart: Vesperae Solennes, Requiem; Carissimi: Jonah; Kodály: Te Deum of Buda Castle; Britten: Spring Symphony; Händel: Semele).

1 Óbuda: (lit. Old Buda) a part (actually the third district) of Budapest, capital of Hungary. ‘Óbudai’ means ‘of Óbuda’, thus the translation of Óbudai Kamarakórus ‘the chamber choir of Óbuda’ is not Óbudai Chamber Choir but Óbuda Chamber Choir.
